Fathomwork programmes
— programmes

Three programmes. Three depths. One honest framework.

Each programme is built around the actual demands of the work — not what managers should ideally know, but what the specific role and level require.

— methodology

How the programmes are structured

Each programme follows the same cycle: a live session introduces a concept, a practice task is carried out at work during the week, and the participant accounts for what they did in a short written submission. Faculty review that submission and provide written feedback before the next session opens.

The cycle matters because it closes the gap between hearing something and using it. Participants are not asked to remember ideas until they find an opportunity to apply them — the task creates the opportunity.

The three programmes differ in duration, intensity, and assumed experience — not in the quality of teaching or the seriousness of the feedback. Depth 01 participants receive the same structured attention as Depth 03 participants.

Live sessions

Weekday evenings to fit alongside full-time work. Replays available for all sessions.

Written feedback

Individual feedback on every submission from faculty, within five business days.

Work tasks

Practice tasks carried out in the participant's own organisation, not in a simulation.

01 — entry level

Foundations of Management Practice

A ten-week entry programme for people who have recently taken on their first management responsibility. The programme covers the shift from doing to organising, planning a week that survives interruption, delegating in a way that develops people, running short useful meetings, holding a difficult conversation early rather than late, and building a simple set of measures for a team's work.

Every module includes a practice task carried out at work and reviewed in the following session. Suited to new managers and those about to become one. Expect four to five study hours a week.

What is included

  • Ten live sessions with replays
  • Practice task pack for each module
  • Weekly written feedback from faculty
  • Two one-to-one coaching calls
  • Cohort group access after the programme
  • Completion record

Who tends to struggle with this programme

People who have been managing for several years and are looking for confirmation that their current approach is correct. This programme challenges habits that have become comfortable, which some experienced managers find more difficult than new managers find the initial learning.

02 — intermediate level

Marketing and Customer Strategy

A nineteen-week programme on understanding customers well enough to make decisions about them. Coverage includes segmentation built from behaviour rather than assumption, research methods a small team can actually run, positioning and message testing, pricing structures and their behavioural effects, channel economics, retention and lifetime value arithmetic, and measurement designs that survive scrutiny.

Cases are drawn from regional consumer and business-to-business firms. Nothing in the programme promotes any particular platform, vendor, or tactic. Expect seven to nine study hours a week.

What is included

  • Nineteen live sessions with replays
  • Research toolkit for ongoing use
  • Weekly exercises with written feedback
  • Two assessed customer strategy cases
  • Presented final project
  • Faculty office hours throughout
  • Completion record

Who tends to struggle with this programme

People expecting a platform or channel strategy course. The programme focuses on understanding customers and making defensible decisions about them — the tactical execution comes later and is left to the participant's organisation to determine.

03 — advanced level

Advanced Management Programme

A thirty-two-week programme at the deepest level offered, intended for experienced managers who want their judgement tested rather than their knowledge topped up. Modules cover strategy under genuine uncertainty, organisational change that people accept, governance and accountability, restructuring operations without breaking them, capital allocation reasoning, and leading when the correct answer is unavailable.

Teaching is heavily case-based with a standing expectation that participants argue positions and defend them. Each participant carries a substantial organisational question through the programme, examined at the end by faculty and practising directors. Expect ten to thirteen hours a week alongside senior responsibility.

What is included

  • Thirty-two weeks of teaching sessions
  • Two residential blocks in Kuala Lumpur
  • Assigned faculty adviser for the duration
  • Peer advisory group of six participants
  • Four assessed submissions
  • Final examined project
  • Detailed completion record

Who tends to struggle with this programme

People who want a clear framework delivered and applied. This programme creates situations where frameworks do not resolve the problem — and then asks participants to reason through what to do. That discomfort is part of the teaching design.
